i think i may have sorted it,just went and checked the car and low and behold the red light for the alarm/ immobiliser is not flashing (stereo one ok),after putting the key in the ignition and turning to position 1 i shut and opened the doors via the fob and then removed key and set alrm as normal and red light now flashing, cant start the car at the moment because the ecotec cover is still off, thanks 'the boy' for putting me on the right track with the immobiliser, will report back as soon as i fit the new seal, hopefully that will be that, quirky cars omegas!
Thanks for the update, and let us know how it goes :)

hopefully i will be able to find a seal without having to buy the whole ecotec/breather unit,if that's the case that you have to buy the whole set up i will repair the broken seal with super glue or start looking on ebay for omegas breaking, i wonder if the seal is the same on any other models ?,will report back on the flashing eml once the seals done. cheers for all the help chaps.

When following the breather cleaning 'how to' in the maintenance guides (by Ronald McBurger), I saw this

You might want to consider repalcing the seals on the breather bridge section, details of these are as follows:
Breather bridge to plenum seal 1 off required - 90467543 90p+VAT each, retail
Breather bridge to throttle O ring 2 off required (4 off on extended plenums) - 90500983 43p+VAT each. retail

I took it that 90467543 was the seal you need. Perhaps Fin can confirm? or PM him (I also assumed the 2 O rings were for the two breather box ports that enter the throttle body)

Good Luck

Pat

Utter rubbish. Part no 90467543 for the little seal that fits between EcoTec box and plenum

Update,i repaired the ecotec to plenum seal with super glue, fired up the car and no more hissing, but the eml light was still flashing,i disconnected the battery and left for a hour, went back with the intention of doing the paper clip test,re- connected battery and no more flashing eml, hopefully it will stay that way.
