Oh bo@&%cks
« on: 24 June 2007, 16:34:57 »

Bloody tractor  >:(

Driving back from scrappy, lost drive again, so pulled in a gateway  >:(

Not wanting to go on dual carriageway, I turned it round to come back the little lanes, and it seemed it had lost 4th initially, so locked it in 3rd. When nearly home, I tried to use all gear, and it was fine again, and has been since  :-/

Tunnie and I checked the atf level (slightly high, but this should be normal once the oil has been used?), and the oil that came out had a definate redness to it, although browny.

Any autobox experts care to comment?

Hmm.. would have thought if it was a mechanical failure, it wouldn't start working again.

Shagged AR25? Very much doubt it... but as I found out, they can just let go, at any time :( :(

Silly thought, but,

You now have a different selector switch since we changed the box.

I just wonder, if it was nudged into N enough not to be in gear?

The second it happened, I looked down, D selected, and lit up.

Identical symptoms to when it let go last time (only I wasn't ragging it this time), only I can't get it to reoccur now.

Thats where my money would be, thrust washer failed.......its a second hand box and nicely underwrites the things we were saying recently about re-building them

You just dont know how good or bad a second hand part is......even if its been seen running or been driven.

i am wondering if there was too much fluid in the box? We checked the level in my garage, quite a lot came out.

Could an overfill of ATF, have caused it to heat up too much? For the past 5 miles or so it was driven very easy, very unlike Jaime!   ;)  ;D

Now that we drained out the excess ATF, wondering if that cause the problem  :-/

It was raining hard, and I have no confidence in the rear tyres ::)

Hence why (due to forecast downpours tomorrow) I was going to use the MV6 tomorrow anyway...
