Hi,
 This morning started the car, sat there a min, whilst I lit a ciggy, then went to drive off, the car seemed to Stutter, as if it started then stopped, headbutted the steering wheel, then was thrown back in the seat as it went, then headbutted the wheel again, then off it went, no probs after that.

Wondered what was going on, thought i had been flown through time and come out on a ride at alton towers.

It seems to have a flat spot, does it sometimes?

Any ideas.

Yeah, i did the breathers when i first got it, done 3k miles in it since, Ok, i might not have done them my best capabilities, but it would'nt idle, it does now, one of the top breathers was all mushy, so i replaced that one.

You think that might be what it is???

Also, I have been reading posts and threads re this matter, and alot of people speak of a small hole thats bunged up, re idling probs, any ideas where i might find this???

I have had a look in the throttle body, cant see it!!!

When it had a hissy fit did you see whether the engine management light lit up.

You may have some codes stored, try doing the paper clip test if the light flashed on.

No, i dont think it was my clutch control, it was deffinately the car, the EML light did not come on, it was I Believe, a flat spot.

Well a flat spot with a griffin imprinted on my forehead anyway.

It does it sometimes, but only in the mornings, when its cold, when its warmed up it is lovely, quiet, smooth.

I think i could be a bit more pokey, seems a bit sluggish, but it is 1.8 ton so i would not be expecting to much, before this Omega I had a BMW Compact that was a 1.9, and that flew like a rocket.

Check the plug wells for the presence of water....

i'm sure i've heard that a flat spot can be caused by a tooth or two out on the timing belt?? dont quote me on that tho, i'm hardly ever right!

Have you pulled any of the leads to see if they are submerged in oil the leads could be slowly cooking.

Do you know when the spark plugs were last changed

Right then,

I have just been out in the blistering wind, checked the plugs... No Water, No Oil...

I changed the plugs when i bought the car 8-9 weeks ago, did an oil change, and new air filter.

Then I had noisey tappet syndrome, put some wynns hydraulic lifter cleaner in it, ran it for about 750 miles, did another oil change, with filter. Tappetts are better, still sounds like one or two could be noisey, but not like it was, seems to run alot better too...

Also while im here, the exhaust seems noisey and raspy, had a look under there it seems to be a new one, you reckon it could be a cheap job, my uncle used to have an Omega, it was the quietest ride i have ever been in, the reason i bought one, but this one is not the same, not even close.

Dont get me wrong, the car has it's little probs that i will sort out, i only paid £200 for it off Ebay, it was a bag of sh*t when i got it, but am getting there, still needs a wishbone (I Think) it has a knocking noise from the front wheel area, drivers side, some one had a look and said it was that, so that is on the list. I have done alot to it since having it, its nearly back to its former glory.

Can you tell if there are any leaks from the air intake or exhaust i guess these could cause flat spots.

You say your getting a tappety noise could this not be mistaken for a blowing exhaust manifold

Hi there.
The small breather you are looking for is at the back (engine side) of the TB the Smaller of the two pipes that are connected to the front left of the rocker cover. Best to take the butterfly top end off the TB so you can get you hand down there, using a small stiff peace of wire, unclog the hole. The crap in this breather can get rock hard as it is heated, also clean out you idle controll valve, located at the front of the TB.  As to the noise from the front end, it indeed sounds like the wish bones need replacing, you might need to also change the steering idler on the passenger side.

The breather into the inlet manifold is pretty critical as is cleaning the flame trap on the breather onto the crankcase.

Also the holes can gunge on the cam cover, the pipes can also collapse.

Finally clean the ICV,

Hi, dont take this as a certainty, but my wifes Pug 406 was doing a similar thing a while back, she took it off to peugeot who dignoses a faulty one-way fuel thingy in the fuel lines, so when shut off it was sucking in some air into the fuel line, then when started it would make a few dodgy looking jerks as though it was the clutch being released too soon with not enough throttle....... like I say though, not sure on how the Omega's work - hopefully better than a peugeot

I dont have the flametrap thingy on mine, done the breathers, one was collapsed and squishy, so replaced it. Have not done the ICV though, i was told they are not servicable, as you can never get all the cr@p out, and they stick afterwards. Is this true??
