Hi,

Since buying the car it has a warning on the trip display (Brake Pad)

Was told it was because they dont have the pads in with the metal strip to connect the wires to.

Is that likely? , if so how do i get it to not display Brake Pad. The pads are full so dont want to replace them

The Omega uses seperate sensors for brake pad wear detection which some people dont botehr re-fitting /replacing.

It can be got round by shorting out the sensor wires, this will remove the fault.....or you could fit wear sensors!

Cut off the sensor which connects to the pad, strip the 2 wires. Wrap the 2 bare wires together, seal with insulating tape. Cable tie out of the way,

Ignition on, press brake pedal = no more error

Or just go down to your local VX shop and buy a pair of brake pad sensors they are only acouple of quid each and take two seconds to fit

bit dearer than that - neared £16 on tc including vat but yes there a doddle to fit

Brake pads are full? thought it failed its MOT on Friday due to brake pads,discs and brake lines!

But mines a facelift and only has the one

I sense a bit of disbelief , so i will post the pics of the fail certificate and receipt of the work done. If you think people on here lie then you are on the wrong forum!!

Pads are cheap.....so i would change em anyway....in fact if you buy a disc kit....pads are included....about £70 TC + get sensor/s as well  

Sensor is seperate to the pads as Marks says.....so thats bull you were told about the pads....it clips onto the pads and as the pads wear down it touches the disc and the warning comes on

Well ive had the work done now and still says brake pad on the display. So i think i will get the clips from vx and then just fit them.

Just put the pics on to prove wasnt lying about the car failing its mot

So are you saying MOT place failed for above reasons.....you ok'd them to do the work...they charged £210   but couldnt be bothered to fit a sensor........

Well to be honest , i did feel a bit ripped off. Took it another garage to check the work had been done , which it had , but they had left brake fluid all over the front underside of the car which i had to have cleaned off. They charged me £90 for the discs and pads fitted and £120 for the brake pipes fitted. I wont go there again though. I was a bit mad about the price of the brake pipes fitted as they only cost a few quid , but i didnt know how to fit them. Can do brakes , pads , servicing etc

I dont know if garages are doing this so people have to have the work done to pass the mot.
