Remote Key fob
« on: 26 July 2007, 19:31:36 »

When I purchased my Omega it came with just one key, I remember my last omega was remote locking.

Is it just a case of going to a VX dealer and they supply or something a bit more complicated and an empty wallet?

the fobs arnt that expensive about 35 - 40 quid if its prefacelift it the money they sting you for plugging it in to there tech 2 and doing the recode for the alarm, mine had a faulty fob so i got it replaced and they tries to charged me 1 hours labour at £90 even though they had the car in the shop for 15 mins until i kicked up a stink and demanded to speak to the service manager, ended up paying for 30 mins labour so it came to £90 including vat, you could try and find an independant garage or im sure some one on here or the vauxhall owners site may be able to sort it out if you supply the fob

I bought a key fob off ebay a month or so back for about £12..... I then called at our Vauxhall Dealer and asked why it wasn't working... For £25 they will program it, they told me it should be done within half an hour....

The Boy has the tool needed to do the Programming but you do need your Car Pass which has your Key number on it. :y

Is this even possible TB? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VAUXHALL-KEY-FOB-PROGRAMMING-ASTRA-VECTRA-TIGRA-CORSA_W0QQitemZ190133368853QQihZ009QQcategoryZ10404QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

some modles of fobs can not be programmed without tools if they are not origanal to the car

I draw 2 conclusions ....

1. Would you trust a "guide" written by someone with that level of spelling

2. That will not IMHO be reprogramming .. it will be the resychronization of the remote.. press button on key fob within 30 secs of switching on ignition ...

please send me 0.99p on reading this !!!!! or do you want a photocopy of page 45 of the handbook !! :)

I think you're right.  I bought a guide to reprogramme my mobile phone and unlock extra memory and video recording function for 99p.  When I got it I needed to follow dozens of links and basically rewrite the software with a rider that says if you get it wrong you're phone is now a paperweight :-[
