I'm assuming you are ragging the Astra then? If you rag a 3.0l everywhere, expect sub 20.

If mpg important, the 2.5/2.6 manual are an excellent compromise.

You'll be wanting a manual then, both for the economy and track use. Mine averages about 24-25, driven hard where appropriate, but it sees its fair share of boring motorway journeys too (not commuting so very little stop/start stuff). Oh and the dual-fuel means that cost wise, it's equivalent to about 60 MPG on petrol  8-)

I bought mine with the LPG kit already fitted -- this route is highly recommended if you can find one that suits (which can take a while, good ones aren't that common especially manual MV6s) as it only adds a few hundred quid onto the resale value, rather than the £1800 or so you'll pay for a good quality sequential injection installation.

Mines normally stuck about 18 when I'm driving on gas, as I've got a problem with the ignition system at the moment, i.e blown the rubber inlet hoses to bits again  :(

I've driven 200 miles  :o :o :'( on petrol, been paying a lot of attention to the average consumption readout and got it upto 22.6 driving grandad style  :(

Worst i've had is about 15.6. Short burst to & from work. bes would say was about 25ish on a motorway run & parts of that were stop start.
Have since changed leads, plugs DIS due to faults. Has improved. est methd is to slacken off throttle cale a bit to prevent opening it too much with heavy right foot  :y
