2.5 V6 CDX manual - 3 problems!
« on: 18 August 2007, 21:34:17 »

Hi,

Bought a 2.5 CDX V6 manual today. Very pleased with it apart from 3 problems.

1: Has quite a bad oil leak. When i open the bonnet, stand facing the car and look down between the engine and the radiator there is oil sitting there on the bottom , by the sump. I just hope its a sump gasket and not anything major. Is it common on these?

2: Back tyres are 205's instead of 225's that the book says they should wear.

3:  Airbag light is on , no signs of being in an accident. Any quick fixes on how to get it sorted?

Is it common on these? - Check Pressure switch at bottom left hand corner - had the same issue myself - switch and seal are less than a tenner - clean up oil first though - as you'll get a better aspect of where it's coming from

2: Back tyres are 205's instead of 225's that the book says they should wear. self explanatory - but will affect your speedo accuracy also

3:  Airbag light is on , no signs of being in an accident. Any quick fixes on how to get it sorted?Check the connections under the front seats - usually the seat belt tensioner plug is slightly loose - I sometimes just move the front seats back and forwards a few times - usually does the trick

Cheers,

What is the pressure switch? , would it make it lose oil like that?

As you're facing the engine - very bottom corner on the left - you should see a loop of cable going into the sump connecting to the pressure switch. The seal was shot on mine - really easy fix if it is this - takes about 5 mins just unclip cable - then put small container underneath switch and 19mm ring spanner to unscrew I think - as I say - clean up the oil and have a good look as well as with a clean cloth (after it's been cleaned up) to check for the oil leak.

Check the simple things first  :y

Metric 24 - ring spanner or very very deep socket needed.
