Clicking noise from under gear gator (Auto box)
« on: 13 September 2007, 15:32:21 »

When I finished work last night I heard a noise that doesn't sound right, In Park when I press the brake pedal I can hear a small clicking sound coming from under the gear gator, I asume its the mechanism to stop it being taken out of park without pressing the brake, I can even feel it moving when I feel around the gator and press the brake, any ideas?  :(

Sounds perfectly normal to me. As you said, it's just the lock solenoid
clicking on and off when you press the brakes.

I dont get it then because I have had the car 6 months now and I have never heard the noise before. I would of heard it by now if it had been there all along!!  :-/

Either you've had the stereo on, blasting out Judas Priest  :),
or it was stuck in position, or your Brake Switch was mal-adjusted
and you've been driving around with your Brake Lights on.

Check your Stop Light Switch (Actuated by the brake pedal),
for correct pin operation iaw Chap 12 of your Haynes manual.

Could you take it out of park without pressing the brake pedal before ??

If not, then it's worked all the time ... if you could then it's as Grumpy says .....

I'm astonised that Motorhead are still going..  A colleague went to a gig of theirs a year ago and was really worried afterwards - took 3 days for his hearing to get back to normal :o
