Starter hosed, how much?
« on: 19 September 2007, 13:08:45 »

My starter is getting worse.  I don't have the facilities to install another one, I understand that an engine mount has to be taken off.  How much will it be to get it done at a shop, 250?  :'(

The brushes/commutator are trashed after driving/floating through the June floods.  ::)  Have to turn the key 10-20 times before it will crank.  >:(

All I can do is spout the same answers over and over again.  I either have the same old problems, or something completely unusual.  Didn't see anyone else trying to use their miggy as a deep fording vehicle and then leaving it to rot for 3 weeks.  :-[

I cant say that I have every touched a V6 starter motor.

Yes its an engine mount out job so probably 1-1.5 hours work.....and given how rarely they fail, a second hand one should work just fine.

Cheers.  Yeah, that's what I thought.  I can get a shop to put in a used one for me, which will save a lot, but it is harder to schedule.

So, NE1 have a used starter?  :-?

Yeah, how about one I don't have to hoist the engine to get at?  ;)  Funny, I was up your way today on the M-Slow.

Do we think it is the same 2.5/3.0?  :-?
