chirping sound coming from underneath 2.5 v6 omega
« on: 04 October 2007, 01:39:25 »

Hello guys,

My omega 2.5v6 has developed a chirping kind of noise from underneath when on engine run down at about 30-40mph.

Its evident and very loud continuous chirping until either the clutch is depressed or gearlever is taking the gears to neutral.

Its a puzzle to me......

Very likely to be one of the heat shields on the exhaust down pipes or manifolds.
If the end of the downpipe heatshield has rusted and come loose you can re-fix it with a stainless steel 'Jubilee' hose clip.

Also check the bolts fixing the exhaust to gearbox bracket.
