As said before, if we can link in, then I can do it for a fraction.... and I mean a fraction... probably 80% cheaper than vx...... but I'm unlikely to be around mid week.

vauxhall or masterfit?

im confused? what do you mean buddy?

whats Masterfit?

are the prices rubbish then? or a bit too cheap or too expensive?

Masterfit is the vx dealer offers it......which your does....means cheaper prices on certain jobs.....same parts used, same vx monkey doing the job......they do it so owners of older vx cars goto the dealer instead of elsewhere....ie its more affordable.

Oil change and filter change masterfit price should be around....£50-£60 masterfit price......NOT £90

Mind you £50-£60 is still a rip off.......considering.....its costs them around a tenner for the parts....and about 10mins to do.

If you want to do this job yourself......theres some members around with TC cards that can get you 5lts of vx semi and a vx oil filter for around a tenner, incl myself  :y

As said on on phone, and on Sunday - your cambelt is overdue by nearly a year, but that quoted price is a bit much. Try other options first, as discussed.

The cambelt MUST have the full kit changed, and a GM V6 Locking/Timing kit MUST be used - it cannot be done properly without.  If your mechanic in Horspath needs a locking kit, he can borrow mine - let me know, I can get the kit to Horspath on Friday evening.

im desperate to be able to drive it, and as "The Boy" says, my cambelt is overdue
the rocker gaskets are filled up with oil etc

im gonna phone round tomorrow and get some more Quotes anyway

and another point is, only Vauxhall dealers will have the CORRECT timing belt kit etc

you could always do my rocker covers for me on Sunday if you like?
would pay you handsomely and have heard you are THE BEST!  :y

90 Quid for an oil change you have got to be kidding me that is outragous.
Its a 10 min job with most of the 10 mins with your feet up with a cuppa as the oil drains out.

Right Thats it I am going to change my job and just do oil changes for a living 10 oil changes a day and ill be laughing.

after oil and filters ill  be in profit by roughly 80quid per change 800 a day thats 4000 a week or 16000 a month or 192000 a year

In for a penny, in for a pound!

That's it i've just registered www.oil-change-derby.com and www.oil-change-watford.com, on that kind of money i will pay GM to bring the Omega back from the dead and start making them again!

Hi Guys

while my car is booked in for all this work,  do you think its wise for me to ask them to change the "Fuel Filter" aswell?
as far as im aware, its never been changed since i have owned it. and thats 4 years and 8 months!

is it an Essential job? and how much do these filters cost and what are we looking at "time wise" for Labour?
trouble is, my fuel tank is full, does it have to be EMPTY before you do this?

stop laughing! im not a mechanic, ha ha ha
