No, tank does not need to be empty.

If you service your car properly, any servicing should have no effect on it ;)

Hi Guys

while my car is booked in for all this work,  do you think its wise for me to ask them to change the "Fuel Filter" aswell?
as far as im aware, its never been changed since i have owned it. and thats 4 years and 8 months!

is it an Essential job? and how much do these filters cost and what are we looking at "time wise" for Labour?
trouble is, my fuel tank is full, does it have to be EMPTY before you do this?

stop laughing! im not a mechanic, ha ha ha

If you want them to replace the service items ie: Oil filter, air filter, pollen filter, fuel filter etc then opt for the fixed service price for your mileage. Also ask them to do the extra's as well and ask for a bull part figure and they will tell you. The price they qoute is the price you pay, but you must ask them for the masterfit price and nothing else. When I had my car serviced from a masterfit dealer I paid £200 for a major service which included Air filter, oil filter, oil, fuel filter, plugs and a good check round the whole car also they done a fuel system flush cleaned the IACV cleaned all the breathers as well which I thought was a good deal and washed it afterwards.

Just use Vauxhall's semi-synthetic, especially if you have access to some one's Trade Club £8-ish a gallon. Magnatec is just fancy prices for fancy names .......
Ooops is that the start of an oil thread?  ;)  ;)  ;)

Castrol seem to have a good name due to massive marketing campaigns in the late 80's/early 90's.  The oil is no better than any other similar spec oil.  To quote a car designer I know very well, "Castrol? I use that purely to flush the oil"

But it being a not particularly good oil is my personal opinion (as are all my posts/comments), not a view of 'the forum'

It was either take it there or to some mechanic who im not really sure IF he could have done these jobs

i also met the guy who done the work on my car and luckily he wasnt a spotty teenager who had just left school!
so im glad about that, and i do have piece of mind at least
infact, on speaking with him, it turns out he used to have an Omega aswell, phew!!

THANK CHRIST!!!
