Why not? It's Genuine GM, and nearly new looking at it, not a spec of rust anywhere.

Or is it the wrong one for this car?

It might be worth offering it up to see how they differ, and if you can modify it to fit. You can always slap the correct one on if it 'aint going to work.

A slightly modified 2nd hand GM exhaust will still be much nicer than a fast fit special!

Its a no brainer.

Example 3: From personal experience, get a fitted GM exhaust......for a reasonable price.....take it back twice......have it refitted once again.....still no good. Get a cheap(ish) one yourself and fit it yourself......you know it has been fitted properly so if it f@@ks up then it's down to bad luck. I got a rear section and backbox from SCR in Norwich for my SRI cavalier a few years ago. Fitted it myself....cost £135.00..........3 hours graft.......no worries.....its still going ok cos I know the guy I sold it to over 3 years ago. Its no brainer cos we're all being ripped off at the end of the day...... :y

I even have a reciept to say it's only a few months old, I don't think it's done 5k miles, and is genuine GM.

If it won't do the car any good, then I will of course not fit it...

I just think I'm missing something - apart from the twin exit backbox, what's different?

I guess it's a matter of getting them side by side and comparing.

As long as you modify the exhaust to fit the car, not the other way rounbd I can't see any harm in trying. Depends on the time it could take messing about with it against the cost of a new VX system.

Mislaid my 'Book', and can't be bothered to load EPC tonight, but if M_DTM says the centres are the same, then use them, and just new backbox.

That's if I can seperate them... I'm not sure, should be OK given that they're newish.

To be honest, the facelift mid boxes look different to the pre.... I recon just splash out on a whole new system?

Read my lips......THEY ARE THE SAME!

They might look different becasue I suspect the ones you currently have are 7 years old and a slightly different can pattern.

I'm interested to hear how you get on James.  I have always shied away from fitting exhausts due to likelyhood of seized joints/sheared bolts and the last time I had an exhaust fitted it needed heat treatment to make it fit (although now I am enlightened on here, maybe it was due to it being a pattern job).

Presumably easier though fitting a full system.

The only risk on the V6 with an exhaust change is the centre to front pipe blts sheering (because the aftermarket bodgers dont fit stainless bolts so they rust).....so treat them to a spray of penetrating every day for a few weeks before thy need removing.

Other than that, its one of the easiest exhaust system to fit going.
