Auto Box when Cold Hesitant shifting
« on: 15 October 2007, 10:22:36 »

Hi,

When i first start the car and drive in the mornings, it will not change to second until it warms up, usually by the time i get to the end of the road 3/4 mile.

Is fine any other time, just first thing, Any ideas?????

Thanks, Mark.  :y

I think that the omega has a late gear change when cold to try and warm the engine up quicker, im sure someone will be along soon to confirm or deny soon.  :y

They all do that Sir! :y Supposedly to get cats up to temp, you could always use the snow flake button to over ride it. 24v Senators were the same.

Normal, don't worry about it.  Its to warm the cats quicker to reduce emissions.

Yep, as said before, hit the snowflake button to force it to change up but remember to disengage it when trying to pull out of a junction!

I often press the button as I hate running a cold engine at high revs until the oil has had a chance to flow.

Remember the snowflake puts excessive strain on the gearbox ;)

It puts it into third from what I can tell, I usually drive it up to a speed it would normally change up at then hit the button, it's only on until I get a mile down the road (30 zone) then I knock it off.

As you say, it puts a strain on the box so I don't use it from standstill.  :y

I would say at 30 it will be straining the box badly as well (30mph would be 2nd normally I reckon)  :-/

Shouldn't do.

Mine does, much faster than the 2.0 Petrol that I had for a couple of months after the Diesel was drowned in the floods!
