According to this site;

http://www.topbuzz.co.uk/info/fault_codes/fault_codes.htm#bosch

it is a Hall Effect sensor, low voltage warning. Quite what that means though I have no idea  ;D

I think all 2.0L 16V are Simtec, so you should have a 4 digit code, not 2 digit.

I thought it was only the early 2.0L 8V had Motronic with the 2 digit code?

No doubt a tech2 guy will give answer shortly.

The trouble is  that my system is the, Siemens Simtec 56.0/56.1, so the code 93 isn't shown on there, so this code must be a phantom code? My car definately is a 2.0ltr ecotec 16v engine, thats what it states on the log book anyway.

Early 16V are simtec 56.1, and have 2 digit codes. Code 93 is listed as Hall effect sender (voltage low). Problem is that there isn't a hall effect sender in that engine (as least afaik). I guess it really means cam sensor voltage low.

Edit: Should quote the reference:

Is the engine limiting?

No the engine is not limiting. Every now and then I start the car then cuts out, eml light flashes turn the key to off then start the engine and works fine and everything is ok. the car does not cut out when driving, does not limit the car runs as it should.
