Car steering to the left
« on: 09 November 2007, 18:33:55 »

hi,
I have noticed the car is steering to the left especially when I take the pedal of the accelerator.
Any Ideas please?

wheel alignment and tracking is a place to start

have a look at your tyres and report back how they're wearing

Does it pull under braking?

If it's affected more by acceleration and coming off the gas I'd say there's some play in the rear suspension. Could be alignment but check for dodgy bushes and the like before you shell out for wheel alignment.

Check the easiest of easy first....

All tyres to correct pressures as per handbook...   :y

Choose a road that is FLAT as 99% have a crossfall or camber to the left anyway to allow water to drain to the gutter....   :y

Then, if still pulling left, think about swapping wheels side to side so as to, possibly, put the wear bias in the other direction.  If it evens out and now drives true then tyre wear is the cause and you now need to investigate the cause of the wear...

Also see this regarding tyre run out....

thought about getting 4 brand new tyres and making sure the pressure's correct?

yes you are the 4th person to say this, I did type it in my original post but I just realised it is not there any more, must of been another Internet explorer reset on Vista.

Thanks all for your help, I will try swapping the tyres over never thought of that.

Yes all tyres are wearing ok but I have noticed the front passenger side is a different make (michellin) all the rest are Nexen.

Strange that.
