Hi, newbie here, bought my first Omega this week - a 98 CDX estate with full leather etc.

So far so good with it, drives really well just got a couple of problems with the heating (just when its turned really cold).

The heated seat lights on the dash light up when depressed, but there's definitely no heat coming from the seats. Easy job to fix or something big?

Also, the car heating takes absolutely ages to get going and even at the highest setting is luke warm at best. Are these two problems linked?

 The heated seats take a while to warm up - about 5 minutes, in my experience.

the lack of heat in the seat could point towards the heater pads being faulty in the seats, it's not uncommon for them to fail.

as for the heater that could be any number of things i wonder if the heater bypass valve (also know as the HBV) is playing up, if you have climate control then this controls the heat into the car, the other alternative could be the vac pipes that feeds the HBV.

the HBV is mounted at the back of the engine bay if yours is a V6 then it is behind the plenium

What does you engine temperature read? Warm the car up then leave it idling for about 5mins, is the heater warm then?

Temp is 90ish on the gauge when fully warmed up. From cold this morning it took ages for the temp to read above zero.

AFter half an hour it is luke warm at best on the highest setting, which is ok but too noisy. I would expect to melt at 27 degrees! It does have climate control, not too sure about how to tackle the HBV.

I will leave the heated seats on for a while, but am sure have given them over five minutes so far.

I had the same problem on my old CDX, either cold air (if set to 27 or below) or toasty hot air if set 1 level above 27 on HI. If you set to HI do you get hot air ? I never got around to fixing mine as I sold it on, but I think that you need to check the fan on the internal temp sensor. Its behind a grille above the climate controls. I'm no expert, just repeating something I read on here the other day. Do a search and you should find the original thread.

Is your car a 2, 2.5 or 3 litre? Take your car for a drive, get it up to temperature. Park the car and let it idle for about 5mins - does the air blow hot?

All elec seats or just the drivers? The drivers has failed in my, no point in getting it fixed as its a pain in the a$$

Slow engine warm up most likely is thermostat. Poor cabin heat could be airlock in heater matrix, I'm having a lot of difficulty clearing my 2.5 of air after a coolant change.

According to the info you need to disconnect the upper pipe to the matrix, then fill at the pipe untill liquid escapes from the stub.

Odd that all my previous V6 have been OK just filling at the header tank.

Apart from pulling apart I would say buggered mate.... Have u got climate control? If so have you tried a reset - hold down AUTO and OFF  :-?

Yes, it does have climate control - will give it a try tomorrow. Is that likely to work?

As the seats are leather they are stone cold, especially with the heating not really working.
