Chip the ECU
« on: 26 November 2007, 11:46:49 »

Hi,

I have recently (on Friday) bought an Omega MV6 3.0 and am interested in adding a chip to increase the performance. I have found this on and was wondering if anyone has tried this or has other cheap alternatives. ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/High-performance-chip-for-Vauxhall-Opel-Omega-B-3-0-MV6_W0QQitemZ110194120732QQihZ001QQcategoryZ32094QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

The car was registered in 2000, but I think it was probably manufactured prior to the face lift.

Thanks for your help.

Rob.

The chip has to be an exact match for your model of ECU. Most cheap ones on EBay are illegal copies of chips developed by other tuning companies. This means you are buying it from someone who likely can't support you, has invested nothing in the product and is profiting well from someone else's work given that a blank chip is worth a few pounds at most.

You pays your money and takes your chance.

Alternatively, MTek performance has a good reputation, and is a member on here. He'd be a much better bet without a doubt.
