Over the last few days i have noticed the smell of gas when i return to the car after a short time away from it.

I have used water and washing up liquid and cannot find a leak at the vapouriser and having looked at the feed pipe there is no damage on the underside

nothing has been touched recently, the gas pressure is still at 1.2 bar and nothing looks to have been damaged on the inlet side

Any ideas?

If i doubt mate get it checked, dont mess if your not sure when it comes to gas leaks.

water and washing up liquid does not work you need proper leak detection fluid.

Finally they used a hand held detector and understand I was right

whatever is leaking is the what is left in the system from the evap to the inlet, the system has two isolators that shut down the gas and stop it from leaking too much

its the stench agent that makes it more noticeble

Get it checked out mate, you never know.........as you know gas is a very volitile substance.

It will eventually seep out of this section, check all the connections again from tank to inlet pipes, where does it smell?

Jay -

First step is a can of gas detection stuff, spray it generously all around the tank connections int he boot, and all the underbonnet components.

Bear in mind the stench agent takes AGES to go away. One guy kept kaving his car investigated because it smelt of gas in the cabin. He kept going back to the dealer, and they could never find a leak.

It turned out, the smell was coming from the gloves that he always used to fill up, and kept in the car!!

we have found what we believe the source, the pipework into the evap unit.

the union has just come loose enough to allow a small amount of seepage, put a new olive on there and nipped it up, all looks to be good but will keep an eye on it
