Problem with onboard display.
« on: 31 December 2007, 12:00:43 »

Hi,
I'm new to this forum, so am not sure I am asking this question in the right forum or the answer is somewhere on site already, so would be grateful for assistance.
Can anyone help me with information about the Warning Codes that appear on my onboard computer?
I have '7 Code' appearing when I switch on the ignition, the handbook says I should contact my main Vauxhall Dealer to rectify, but the car is running fine, except that the radio/cd will not play with the Code displayed.
The car is a 2,5 manual CD 1996, if that helps.
Thanks and Happy New Year to all.

Hi and welcome to the site

Im pretty sure its indicating you have 7 attempts left of entering the correct radio code......and why your radio wont work.

Code should be on the car pass if you have it, if not, its a trip to the dealers im afraid.

Turn radio off if its not already and press and hold AS then turn radio on......it will beep and prompt you to enter the code.

Aye, should probably be moved to 'Ice & Omega Electrical' but as TD says, the radio in your car has had the power supply cut to it at some time either when you have had a flat battery or disconnected the battery recently?

The 4 digit code is found on your 'Car Pass', a red & white credit card sized passport which is hopefully included in your service books/handbook/documentation. As mentioned, after turning the iginition on, switch off the radio using its power button, hold 'AS' and switch it back on which will then prompt you to enter the code...you have only got 7 attempts left at doing it though after which it is then useful for a door stop.

The code is also available from your dealer upon presentation of various details. About £10-15

Happy new year also!  :y

Thanks for your reply, I have the code number so will have a go at putting it in, I have not disconnected the battery lately, but have noticed that there has benn an internitent fault with the player, so maybe worth taking the radio out and checking first.

Cheers, have a good one.

Simply taking the radio out and putting it back in making sure everything is seated properly may hopefully do the business.

The supply has been interrupted somewhere, perhaps check the fuse for the radio is properly seated in the fusebox? also the fuse in the back of the radio is ok and secured.

to input code, for example  '3214'

press button 1 3 times for number 3
press button 2 twice for number 2
press button 3 once for number 1
press button 4 four times for number 4

then hold AS  :y
