Engine management light
« on: 01 January 2008, 17:52:22 »

The orange light with the car and spanner is regularly coming on when I am driving the car. When I stop and switch off the engine, it seems to reset and then doe's not come on again for a little while. There seems to be nothing wrong with the car when driving it.

Will the management system be storing fault codes everytime this comes on and would it be advisable to get this checked by Tech 2?

Or as long as it resets each time should I just keep driving the car and not worry.  :D

Thanks

Get it code read, if the light comes on then the fault code will be stored.
Is there any change in performance?

Not had the car long so unsure if performance is vastlt effected. Engine seems to rev fine up to red line and gearbox changes smoothly. The only thing I could comment on is that fuel consumption is a little low at around 24 mpg, but apparently these are a bit thirsty.

May be worth a trip up the A46 to Marks_DTM_Calib so he can run a Tech2 on it....
