I think a more methodical approach is due here ...

1. Paperclip test for problems ...

http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1189022687

2. Find where loss of coolant is occuring and cure .. either HBV or Oil Cooler at worst ... header tank/lid at best .. :)

3. Check Plug Wells .. if contaminated ...

http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1152564281

http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1159298765

http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1152598350

4. If you have problems starting or a Crank sensor eror code (19 I think ? )

http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1174321688

Once that is all sorted then a 50 mile run including 40 miles of motorway cruising.. then chack oil for mayo .. it'll have probably all gone  :)

V6 does not have coil/distributor as old fashioned cars .. the DIS pack is controlled by the ECU and has connections for the plug leads on it .. under instructions from the ECU it generates and distributes the HT to the plugs.

It is ....

1. Damned awkward to get to ( especially with hands the size of mine)

2. Damned expensive for what it is.

3. Prone to contamination ( and subsequent failure - water and HT don't mix well) from leaking HBV or other bits .. :(

thats funny you should mention that as it seems like a ignition/electric fault! its a complex car compare to what ive had before (mainly turbo diesel 4x4) so i cant get my head around it!
