high level brake light
« on: 13 January 2008, 19:06:27 »

Just bought a new high level brake light off e-bay. My car doesn't already have one so it's a bit of an upgrade. Is the wirng and multi plug already fitted into the car? I've seen an article on how to fit this part somewhere but can't find it again. Can anyone guide me in the right direction please?

See your point.........tho i think i see TB's point too......if you have extra brake lights fitted.......the check system maybe happy with it......but what happens if you get a blown rear brake light.....as you've got extra light connected, will the check system notice and tell you youve got a rear brake light blown??  :-/

Thanks for the quick replies, never gave the check system a thought. A lot of the earlier saloons like mine have the extra brake light, I fancied fitting this as the position of the standard lights on the edge of the body are in a poor place in my humble opinion, noticed this when I was behind a P reg  at traffic lights, his brake lights looked very poor when compared to the other newer cars around.I'll give it a go and let the forum know how it went. Once again, thanks.

yes because the check system works on resistance of the bulb and led bulbs have very little !! ;)

By rights you'll need a new/diffferent rear screen. There's a 'hole' in the blacked out of the screen bit for the extra lamp.

Its a brand new genuine VX part, it was only £4 so if it dont work i won't be losing much sleep. It will be an additional lamp so hopefully it won't affect the check system.
