1994 OMEGA 2.5 TD SELECT
« on: 14 January 2008, 22:14:01 »

yeah so we are looking at this car on ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280192310631&_trksid=p3907.m32&_trkparms=tab%3DWatching
as we want a diesel estate with a towbar. a few questions about this car though.
What are the performance figures for the 2.5 TD bmw engine? (mpg, not how fast it will go lol)
is 207K miles a bit risky?
any reliability issues? or things to look out for?
Also what would a recommended highest bid?

edit:
Also i cant find anywhere on the internet what toys (cough needed electrics) are on this trim level

thanks in advance, yD

I personally wouldnt go anything over £400, it has no MOT, it seems odd to me that people sell cars with nothing wrong with them without MOT. If it had nothing wrong it would be more viable for them to stick an MOT on it, it would cost £50 (if nothing wrong it would pass!) and they would get loads more for the sale of the car, so be warey about it!

I just bought a 3 litre saloon (elite) mint condition apart from a few scrathes and odd bits of rust in usual places,1996 6 months MOT & tax, FVSH including original sale receipts and all past MOTS with 93K for £750, it took a while to find, but there are bargins about! good luck!

lol - what has the seller been smoking - 'great bmw engine with plenty of power'. I think not...

being manual, worth chipping.

I get 37mpg from my chipped td elite auto (much better on a run)

vauxhall detuned the BMW engine for a number of reasons, one of them was the fact that the autobox couldn't handle the true power of the engine.
The chip will regain some of that power, and also some economy as well

Yes, will make faster, yes, will make it more economical.  Cost a lot? Depends on your definition of 'a lot' ;)

PM Omegatoy for 2.5TD chips, though he is offline for a while
