Before I even Start, I will say, MARK, one word about composite gaskets......and....

In all seriousness, noticed a slight blow from the manifold area of the 135 bank when cold. Goes away when hot.

I've fitted a new (composite) manifold gasket with all new studs. All surfaces were flattened, and all studs torqued properly. Now I am aware that a composite manifold gasket won't have the life expectancy of the genuine items, but I also would think that fitted under the correct conditions, as it was, it SHOULDN'T start blowing that quickly!

I am seriously hoping that it is the downpipe join that's blowing. I recall on one side, I re-used the seal, because I couldn't find my new one.

Hopefully it's this little seal that I re-used that's blowing, and I'll soon be able to fix just by replacing it  :-/

I've had a Hair Line crack on the manifold that did that, checked and changed everthing, then the manifold.

I've got 2 snapped studs at the front end AND a crack in the manifold.
Mine sounds like a tractor when its cold.

I personaly have only seen V6 manifolds crack on ex-plod cars.

So, the gaskets have lasted the few hundred miles I predicited then!

On a serious note, also check that the flexi pipe for the EGR valve is nice and tight at the manifold end.

Mine sounds like a tractor when its cold.

You should worry!
Mine sounds like a Traktor all of the time!

I personaly have only seen V6 manifolds crack on ex-plod cars.

So, the gaskets have lasted the few hundred miles I predicited then!

On a serious note, also check that the flexi pipe for the EGR valve is nice and tight at the manifold end.

It seems to be toward the rear of the manifold... Im very much hoping it's that joint that's failed!

Would a very tiny blow like that affect an MOT / emissions?

if the tester picks it up then yes they will fail it

Touch wood , my manifold gasket has been blowing for about 2 years!! But silent when hot thank god .

Think maybe they do emissions tests when engine is warm , so far they've passed mine . Having said that , just moved so will have to find a friendly MOT station or go all the way back to where I used to live to get it done

Really? It's soooo minor, you have to REALLY listen for it, and rev the engine to hear it..

Really? It's soooo minor, you have to REALLY listen for it, and rev the engine to hear it..

Take it in hot and they wont hear it and your allowed minor leaks so shouldn't be a problem.
