Ah, yours wasn't an Amstrad was it ?. When I was fixing skyboxes, the common amstrad fault was the marginally rated caps they used in their PSU. They used to dry out after a while. There was a long list of faults, the repair to which was "change all caps in PSU"  !

Well i have had sky now for 2 yrs, but when i lived in my last house back in cambridge i had sky for 10 yrs and that box was still working but my ex took it.......

Sorry, I didn't have much experience with Pace boxes. Some Pace boxes had a single board for the elecronics, with the PSU on the same board as the tuner/decoder etc, which meant it was not a "swap the psu" repair. Not nice to work on.

You can always phone them up and say that the box they sent you has died, and when they start saying that you have to buy another box, you can mention that you are thinking of stopping Sky, as Virgin have sent you some special offers, and see if they bite.

Thanks ken that's sounds like a good idea, i will try and see if they give me a new box, but they did ring me a while back asking did i want insurance because i had it over a yr and i said no so i might not get a new box, and they tryed to persuade me but i still said no, i wish i said yes know

I thought pay TV stays with the company - I have a SECA CAM property of OnDigital

Its still a tenner a month......and the box ive got is rubbish...hence why im looking at MCE
