Vauxhall Omega 2.5 V6 N reg clutch master cylinder
« on: 30 March 2008, 19:48:10 »

Appears that hte clutch master cylinder has now failed on my car.  I did buy a replacement Omega 2.5 V6 Auto CD model of the same age, because the clutch was slipping on my manual Omega, I bought the auto as a replacement because my Omega needs quite a bit of work to keep it going, and was convinced the clutch was dying, now thats not the case.

Then finally, the clutch pedal gives up and I have to either start the car in gear or change gear by timing the change with the revs (not as tricky as it sounds), clutch now doesn't slip at all, so this leads me to believe its the master cylinder on the back of the clutch pedal.

Theres no loss of fluid from the brake reservoir, so that rules out the slave cylinder.

I've also got another Omega, a 2.0 16v Ecotec with head gasket failure.

is the clutch master cylinder from the 2.0 Omega compatible with the 2.5 V6 Omega, and is it much of a tricky job, mate of mine hates doing them on Vectras, but i'm rather hoping the arrangement of the engine in the Omega will mean more room.

This is one of those jobs I want to start and finish in the same night, so any help would be appreciated.

I know the slave cylinder is inside, but thats not the problem.

Thats a shame the 2.0 one won't fit, because the cheapest one I can find is £100 :(

Perhaps i will keep the Auto then and break up the manual.

Grrr!

Clutch master cylinders are the same across all engine sizes. Only the pedal box is different with the V6 adding a big 'helper' spring.

Before you condemn the master cylinder try bleeding the clutch but modify an easi-bleed to push fluid in through the bleed nipple, its the only way of guaranteeing an air-free system.
