Or umpteen road/ pavement works up and down the country

Tell me about it. They re-tarmaced our road and pavements recently and were running
over time. So when they finished they all took off, taking all their cones and signs with them,
and just left one bloke to paint the centre white lines in rush hour traffic. None of the
road blocked off, no signs anywhere, just this one bloke walking down the middle of the road
with his paint machine with traffic streaming either side of him.  

I couldn't believe what I was seeing.
