the front door on the passengers side is getting very hard top close, the bar that goes from chassis into the door is jamming (see pic), any ideas how to fix  it, wiil it be the bar, or the mechanism it goes into or is it one unit, what is it actually called.

I would imagine the door check strap inside the door is broken or seized, also check the door frame where it is bolted to see if it has badly cracked.

no there is no crack, so what is the remedy, is it a replacable part

Ignore the repair parts, but it tells you how to replace the door check strap. Easy job once the door card has been removed

First place to start is to apply plenty of grease. to be honest I changed one of mine when i first got car & in 2 years its started playing up again despite regular greasing. Very bad design in my opinion, due to this I have put my foot through yet another speaker grille whilst trying to prevent the door shutting on me.

just rechecked the thing, and its completeley broken off at the door end and taken the door part with it, does this meen i need a new door, or can it be welded, i notict there is an inner and outer layer of door sking, is it possible to make a mount and place it there.
is this fixable.

this is not a suitable fix as the actual door mounting brackets have torn, this is my problem. can it be welded or a new bracket fashioned.

if you look at where the top n bottom bolts are supposed to be, i could place a steel plate over this mounting and use self tapping screws then replace the part as was befor but attatched to the new mounting plate, my only concern would the self tappers be adequate, its a fiddly job but beats buying a new door

but i dont bother spend any money b'use

they used cheap stuff when they made the car

i removed the bolt. that silver handel when inside the door

and my door open nice and smooth

i just have to hold it ... i think thats selly to spend money to fix that door

Try the repair kit, it sandwiches the original metal between two new pieces and longer bolts then bolt into the check strap mechanism.
Its a cheap fix and worth trying before going down the welding route.

There is an inexpensive part which replaces the internal door plate that the check strap bolts onto.

It entails removing the door, drilling out spot welds, then fitting new bracket. I used pop rivets as I did not want heat damage on the door.

It's not too difficult and it does the job properly, pm me and I can email some pictures.

As already said, it repairs by means of sandwiching the broken part of the door frame between two plates - its a recognised VX repair.

Yes, it can be welded but, more importantly, it can also be repaired with much cheapness...
