poly v needs a cracker

i have a 2000 2.2 petrol y22xe omega and have been told that my poly v belt tensioner or ildler is ready to go PPPHUT!!!!!

can someone please tell me whats involved to replace it :-?

guesing either aux belt tensioner or timing belt tensioner - who has advised you of this, whats the symptoms and whats your mileage ?

thanks for the reply. its the auxiliary drive belt tensioner or idler running the alternator etc,

it was a vauxhall dealer who wanted to charge me over £150 to change it :-X

Utterly ridiculous, you can buy the tensioner pulley with it's bearing for no more than £30 or so.

If it's similar to the V6, one screw holds the pulley, 15 minutes?

It sounds like they want to change the whole tensioner assembly, you certainly don't need to that on a V6, anyone tried it on a four cylinder?

Just checked part numbers, 2.2 seems to be 9157948, it's listed as no longer supplied which is not helpful.

2.5 is 9157962.

I don't know what difference there might be, pulley diameter perhaps?

Unless the pulley is damaged is it possible to remove the bearing and replace with standard part?

You can't get an easier job. I just did it on mine, took about 3 minutes, so no worries :y

I can't believe they wanted to charge £150 for that!

fitted by myself in ten minuts,

money saved £120,
