gearbox... safe to drive
« on: 21 May 2008, 20:19:42 »

Hi folks, having a bit of a prob with my auto gearbox... unable to get it tech 2'd till next week due to pennies. its an 'auto gearbox' warning, loses d but drives in 123 absoluteley fine, sometimes D works intermittently. Does anyone know if I will cause anything serious by driving it manual for a week? atf is fine.
thanks in advance

My Cav's got a similar problem, 2/3 shift solenoid high voltage.

Supplied a few of theses for the old Senator boxes but not on the Omega as yet

couldnt get it off with the kit i had... but gave it and all the wiring a good dose of wd40... someone else suggested it could be that too, seems to make logical sense with the symptoms
thanks

I hope you did not get WD40 inside the switch
It is not a switch cleaner & should never be used on electrical contacts or circuits

Could very well be the selector switch is knackered. Had a similar problem with mine that was cured by a replacement. See if there are any in the Parts Wanted/For Sale section of the forum.
