v6 plug leads
« on: 14 June 2008, 22:23:50 »

hi all,
just changed my cam cover gaskets and guess what? no6 plug lead broke.mmmmmmmmm not an uncommon occorance i believe.so ive had to order some for monday.
anyway, has any body got any tips for changing the leads.the drivers side seem to go into a cable keep on there way to the dis.do the new leads have to do the same or can the keep be dispensed with.
before i remove the old leads what positions do they occupy on the dis.i have 4 but unsure of the other 2.cant even see the posts to get the numbers.will be doing most of the job by feel me thinks.
any tips and info would be appreciated.
thanks

I MAY have a known good no6 lead I could pop in a jiffy bag, if it would save you some pennies.

Hi Brian,
I've just put a new set of leads on my 3.0L and the old ones also went through a cable keep which i just dispensed with as must have came ready fitted to the leads because no split for removal.

As you say all done by feel, i just took one lead off the Dis. pack at a time, traced it back to plug and made a small drawing of where they all went and then just replaced starting on the bottom row of the Dis. pack. At least this way your assured of getting them in the right order.

  Hope this helps.
