i would follow Marks advice all day, to right.
Whats throwing me is the bit about all dash lights on and engine still running?
But no mention of engine dieing, so that bit makes sense. I thought the ecu decided the dash lights?... Confused.com.

Ps guide for ignition switch removal on page1 of maintenance guide section. Hope helps.

Andy, I'm currently on holiday on the island and, although I haven't really got any tools with me, might be able to pop over and give you a look if it ever stops raining!

I'm thinking that it may not be the ignition switch at all, it might be a problem with the fuel cut off solenoid. A diesel engine can only be stopped on the switch by cutting the fuel!

I'm not ruling out the switch, which would be my second point of call!

Thanks for the offer, but as the the ignition lights stay on even though the key can be turn through the sequence. Off to find one in a scrappy over the weekend anyway as I am in search of a working glovebox as well.
