My previous TD had leaky ijector 4. Visible fuel around injector. Whiff of diesel in hot weather/slow traffic. But if it was parked up in rain huge rainbows on ground. Mid used to read 57mpg when it did 34ish same as my other two. I think 41mpg is over optomistic for an auto.

Hows the oil?

Certainly not 3g overfilled ;D

Seriously, was considering similar, but that would then leave a massive oil slick somewhere.

Oil level very stable in betweeen 3k changes.

If I have misread your diags, then oil seems OK, goes black instantly after change, changed every 3k.  A small bit of oil weeps from egr (later egrs have an oil drain - I've currently got an earlier type egr on)...

Maybe worth another look at the high pressure lines as they may have backed off.
On my old Courier van I put a couple of turn of PTFE tape on the threads as the fixings were worn and kept backin off.

agree a leak is most likely but we were unable to spot it the other day, however i just realised the later cars with maf sensor dont read the boost sensor, its not used!! they only use the measured airflow from the maf???

Is that right? As mine runs pretty good with MAF unplugged, but not so hot when I forget to plug in boost pipe!

well if you remember we can read the actual boost on mine abut not on yours? and it was you that said the signal from boost sensor is just a constant voltage on the later cars where as mine varies with the differnt boost figures??

No, you can read boost pressure on later, its the air temp you can't

Next week is ABS meet? You going OT? If so, take my tractor for a blast and see if you think performance is down?  Obviously, its your favourite 2 pedal gearbox type, so won't be quite as quick as your beast, but I'm sure you could tell if there is a perfromance issue?
