Help please
« on: 10 November 2008, 16:06:13 »

Hi guys, I have Just got into my mig after about half an hour of being away from it and its now shaking heavily on tickover and sounds like its misfiring under revs. Any ideas? Sparkplugs have not long been done. Could it be a faulty lead?

Just noticed my avatar has gone funny.. Was ok yesterday. (normal size) Any ideas :-[ :-?

I personally would check the leads for soundness (has it been in heavy rain today?), but many on here will say straight away "crank sensor" which when it suddenly goes causes the symptons you describe. :y

Have you done a paperclip test? I ask that not knowing the model you have which may rule that out in that manner.  Please place your vehicle details into the profile:)

Not every code causes the light to come on.

Most likely an air leak then.

Wouldn't keep using it for too long without resolving it

Unplugged mass air (if it was the right one I unplugged) and the engine almost died then picked up but revs sounded lower. Air leak?? would a blow in the exhaust do this? Just pulled a sparkplug out and it runs exactly the same??  :-/

As above, exhaust blows (sounds tappy on start up) would this effect it in any way?  :-/

Wouldn't have thought a blowing exhaust would have caused your problem.
Check for air leaks like already suggested :y

Could do, depending on how bad, and where.
