New job - have I flunked it?
« on: 07 November 2007, 19:35:28 »

Had a call this afternoon re. the job I am going for.

Apparently the IT Director wants to "sleep on it" before they decide whether or not to employ me, and I'll know the outcome tomorrow.

I'd have thought if they were impressed enough with my interviews, they'd have made the offer today  :-/  :'(

James, stay calm, as already said, he is probably just testing you.

A lot of us on here work in IT like yourself and i'm sure we're all used to having our nerves tested.... it goes with the territory in this industry.....

I dont want to get your hopes up, but if they were going to say no they would say no.

And if they were doubtful they wouldnt get your hopes up by calling - they would ( or should) keep quiet untill they had decided.

I think its positive - but thats only my opinion  ;)

But how do they know how I'm handling them dragging me along? I'm obviously calm and collected when on the phone to them.. so they're not to know what while I'm waiting, I'm necking whisky and kicking the dog  :-/  ::)

And, when he rings to offer you the job, tell him that you need to sleep on it and you will get back to him tomorrow.  :)

Why not? At the end of the day, they phoned you to say that they wanted to think about it, you never had to ring them so it sounds positive.  :y
