When I first joined VxON, I asked about this. MARKS_DTM told me that all omegas suffered and, when they where serviced by Vx, they changed the oil for a different one. I seem to remember that the box should be topped up to 9mm below the filler. This seemed important, but I wonder how many of us actually do that?

Hmm... I just drained it dry, and pumped the correct amount in there  ::)

Well I've only ever changed the oil on manuals if a, I thought it really needs it OR b, it's off the car anyway.

DONT TALK TO ME ABOUT HANDSFREE BOXES THOUGH!  >:(

I remember one night a year or two ago. On the drive 11pm covered in ATF following a box swap. Changed the oil and filter for good mesure, got in a "stuck" position and had ATF in my mouth and all over my body... :( I said never again but... well, you get the picture.

I've even driven brand new cars that suffer with this, I think it's just "one of those things"
I wonder if a different / revised oil that might help? I've only ever used the right VX one in it though.

I've heard it makes a difference, especially when cold shift quality. Vx seem to have changed the spec. several times. I wonder if that was in response to complaints?

Might be the usual drivel that accompanies the "o" word. Who knows?  :-/

I bl*dy hate ATF, it's nasty stuff......

I'm sure it won't be the last time I get a shower with it, though!

There's nothing like having your hair styled with something that smells about as attractive as cat's pee!
The special oil for my Ford manual box is worse. Just as smelly and rank as ATF but almost as thick as EP90 so you try getting it out of your hair  >:(

Reminds me of a very cold christmas hols years ago when me and a mate spent 3 days crawling around in the stuff under his dads volvo 244 changing the box twice.
The smell goes after a couple of days though. ;D
