Ok then here goes ,
1, De-activate the air bag switch off all ign then disconnect the batt and WAIT for at least 60 sec for the system capacitor to discharge.
3, Remove the glove box.
4, Unclip the cover panal from the left hand facia end section.
5, Unclip the bulb holder from the rear of the air vent housing and position it to one side.
6, Slacken and withdraw the securing screws then detatch the nozzle from the left hand air vent.
7, Undo the securing screws and remove the left hand vent from the facia.
8, Unscrew the lower mounting screws and detatch the lower edge of the hinged air bag cover from the facia.
9, Using a long extentionbar and a pair of long nose pliers , slacken and withdraw the air bag cover hinge bolt.
10, Remove the hinged cover to expose the air bag.
slacken and remove the air bag unit securing bolts then withdraw the unit from its mounting bracket slightly.
11,Unplug the wiring connector from the airbag unit from the vehicle.
When handling the air bag allways have if facing up and away from you oh and do not drop it!
This information is from the haynes manual and before its discription has several warnings about handling,customising, and removing the srs system.
And you would do this at your own risk, I personaly wouldnt touch anything that could possibly jeapodise passenger safety, when 'baby' is at home and your out with your partner or friends their protection is gone. But hey thats my opinion.
I have worked with airbags before on many vehicles and can tell you that the last time someone who didnt treat it with respect accidently set it off and snapped his thumb off! He then had to have exstensive reconstuctive micro surgery to his right thumb which is still not right after several years.
this is another bit of thread i have found, does this sound right? im sure removing the lead connected to it deploys the unit?
