Is the 2.5td limited to 5000 revs ?
the car has no problems its free reving all the way up there but stops dead at 5k ...is this normal

5000 rpm seems pretty high revs for a diesel....I would imagine that it is limited !

Pretty sure that diesel engines generally top out (BHP-wise) around 4000rpm, and the top end of their range is pretty flat as a characteristic - kinda like a trade-off for all that low-end torque :)

revving it that high all the time will blow the engine up

remember diesels have a govenor for a reason
