The dis pack can be a pain to replace but it aint that bad. Best thing is to remove the scuttle panel under the screen to give better access but it can easily be done with it still in place.

I find using a long reach 8mm 1/4" drive socket with a 4" extention easily reaches the bolts nearest to the front of the engine and leaves plenty of room for manover when ratcheting. Then for the rear two I use the same socket with a 2" extention and again find plenty of room. Obviously you are going to have to remove the plenum first but it is possible without removing injector rail  :y

Have fun  ;)

Thanks for the advice guys.  I know absolutely nothing about mechanics so I have to get the work at a garage. Vaux couldn't give me a definitive answer as to which dispac I have which is annoying as I'd hoped to source the part myself and have it ready for the mechanic. Ebay had them from £40 but my local motor factors place they start at £70 + vat!  I don't think the garage will want the car hanging about whilst I wait for the part to arrive.....As far as the misfire itself is concerned, could anything else be to blame other than the dispac, plugs and leads? From what the previous owner said the fault came on all of a sudden, very much like the situation like somebody else has posted on the forum recently.

The very same thing happened to me today. Been noticing over the past couple of weeks that she's been down a little bit on power, but never gave it much thought as it wasn't that bad.

Went to Oxford this morning, she was running fine, nothing unusual. Got back in and started her up, and oh my god was she running BAD. Uneven tickover, and spluttering whenever I blipped the throttle.

Had to limp her back home which was about a 12 mile drive and it was excruciatingly painful for me and the Mig. Just the slightest touch of the throttle and she juddered like crazy. The drive down the A34 at 40mph made the journey even worse.

When I finally got home I threw my car keys at the wall, sat down and swore a lot hehe.
