My own preference is to use Forte Advanced Formula Diesel Treatment.

It's around £15 a bottle, and 'Trade Only' so not readily available.
Do not confuse it with (or use) Forte Specialist Injector Cleaner. This also comes in a similar yellow-topped bottle, and is for petrols.

Far easier to get hold of is Comma Diesel Magic, (around £6 a bottle from Halfords). Quite a few 'tractor' owners on here, (including moi), have had good results with this stuff.
Fill the fuel filter to administer the treatment!

is it better to fill the filter rather than pour it into the tank?
