although the rising cost of petrol is annoying, its not expensive!!!

I am with clarkson on this one, its still very cheap for the work done to it.

At the end of the day its 2/3p per litre extra. So to fill up tank its about £3 more.

Further more the tax.... it is high in this country but i would rather pay more tax for better roads, and less tax for worst roads.

I have driven in america and their roads are shocking bad!

Europe too, Germans have the best, but in france the petrol is only slightly cheaper but they have tolls everyware!

When i started driving it was about 79p a litre.... in 6 years its gone up £0.20! big deal!!

And Martin, bottled water is £1.20 + a liter.... which needs a lot less refinement in petrol!

You must be on drugs if you think petrol is not dear  :D

As for the roads thats a joke..Tell me where the roads in the UK are better than Europe..I have been driving for over 30 years all over Europe and the UK and your telling me the roads are better here..

As for the rise in fuel cost 20p in 6 years..Its gone up 1p every week for the last 4 weeks..

6 years of driving your still learning. ;)

Well 60p or so of that is tax so say 40p a litre at most, production is industrial with huge amounts processed.

Bottled water is a lot of profit and expensive packaging, how much do you think petrol would cost in a litre bottle.

More to the point 2 litres of Tesco water is 17p

But I would compare with the piped in water with a huge expence in pipe work and waste handling at roughly £1.20 per 1000 litres

yep i heard the same thing today about a fuel protest but i regard it as a chinese whisper until it happens
watch the garages as everyone hears about it and goes straight to the garage to fill up... :( and then nothing happens!!!  i dont think the govt would allow anything like last time to happen espec under the new terrorist laws the police would be straight in to disperse em...

Still only 4p  ;)

Its really NOT expensive...

The problem of UK roads is congestion. Europe is massive.... a lot less cars on the road.

Driven on French motorways in the wet? Down right bloody dangerous! Can't see anything!

Far, far safer on UK motorways....

Petrol is in everyones mind because we see the prices every day, driving in America it was no cheaper running car there.

Yes petrol is a quater of the price.... but the cars do almost a quater of the MPG that Eurpean cars do.

The American heap i hired did 12 mpg!
