We were sent into Theatres that were very dangerous, and had to make comprimises, still we are one of the best trained Armys in the world.
Its just no good if the Government do things Half hearted, just to please their Friends over the Lake

Exactly Steve, but only part of the problem. We are trained in the age old British army way which is fantastic with reguards to sticking together as a fighting unit etc. But you cannot operate as a fighting force in arenas where you dont know your enemy. 1,We failed in NI and we're failing in Iraq. Afghanistan is a bit different because, out there in the desert, it's just you and them. Also, successive 2,governments have always tried to fight on the cheap.
Impossible odds to overcome.
I wish i could dissagree with you, but unfortunatly you are right in what you are saying,
I was in NI a few times starting out in 1982, we were only there as the government were not able to pull their fingers out, i lost a few very good friends there, all this could have been avoided.
It wasnt Blairs Genius that sorted that out.
Irak was even worse, we didnt only have to fight the enemy, but the Americans too, they thought it was a rather shooting range.
We went out there with completely the wrong equiptment, and everything fell apart.
Intel was absolutely shit, and that too cost lives.
