Evening all!

Long story short, after driving 10 or 20 miles in this hot hot weather my old white 2002 3.2 saloon lights up the TC and car/spanner warning lights and goes into limp home mode.

Started limping yesterday afternoon, was immediately ok after stopping and starting the engine. This morning the limping lasted about 10 minutes before clearing itself. This evening I had to limp 25 miles home on the back roads with no sign of things getting better.

Ideas, anyone? Crankshaft sensor?  I don’t recall the TC light coming on when these have failed before, but this is the new style ECU with FBW throttle etc.

Anyone else think they have seen this before and have any helpful advice??

No, seriously, from the cases I have read on here in the past there is a strong possibility it is the crank sensor ;) ;)

No doubt others will confirm or dismiss this! :D :D

Flash the codes up using the throttle pedal trick..

That will confirm whether it is crank sensor or not  :y

Hmmm - tried the pedal trick but as the spanner light and TC light stay permanently lit, this is telling me nothing.

Or am I missing something?

P.S. Tried disconnecting the CPS, then the engine refused to fire at all. Reconnecting it returned me to "Crap-mode" (tm)..!

lizzie is right, sounds like your crankshaft sensor.

Found the problem this evening... plug to the throttle motor had worked loose thanks to a broken retaining clip.

A good shove + cable tie to hold it = no dash lights and a working car again!

 :)
