it can be repaired ..if the repair is done sensitive and measured in every distance and be the same no unusual tire wears will happen I think..

remember that you are pulling on a steel frame, not working with clay, there is a limit to the fine tuning you can do... the most common problem is that while you end-up having the same distance between the front and rear wheels on both sides of the car, and all four wheels have the correct toe-in/out, there is a slight offset between the front and rear axles.... like so:

It is practically impossible to have all measurements back to original, and leaving this offset is the least noticeable way to fix the car... it will want to crawl sideways and will end up with odd tyre wear.

I'm not a professional on that job however, I see these kind of repair shops  got some books and lists on different brands  measures..if they left some measures unfixed its the shops guilt I think..As I'm an engineer theoriticaly its possible to do too many..

this may not be practical or economical ..yep ..driving big omegas are also..But we like them  :y

Your one presumably, not Mrs Omegatoy's?

I'm afraid they will write it off. And you probably want them to  :'(

If the door gaps have closed up, it will need a chat with a jig, and they won't rejig one that age, when (in their eyes) its worth a few hundred quid.  My own experience of rejigged cars, they never are quite straight afterwards. Even if they do get it close, they seem to fall out of true within a few months. One of Mrs TB's company car Rovers they rejigged 4 times over the 3 years we had it.

I know you could really do without this right now with everything else going on over next few weeks, but at least you have the LDV :P.  Seriously, if you need a car, you are welcome to borrow tractor and learn how to use a proper gearbox.

Thanks dude, but the good news is chassis not damaged as far as i can see from under the car, flor not damaged from under the car, havent found the strength to empty the boot yet to check the floor inside ;D no roof ripples or quarter panel damage :y
bad bits
rear bumper srengthening bar is molded nicely to the shape of the rear and is no longer connected to the outer bumper shell ::)  and cracked rear light lens, rear valance under the bumper is slightly dented, plastic clips that hold bumper together are history so not to bad so far when i mt the boot and make a proper check wil let you know

had the insurance company on phone today ,
Hello sir the driver is on his way in your free hire car to collect your car,so we can assess the damage and let you know if its economically viable to repair it

me, you better ring him then and tel him not to bother!!
, I will at my own convenience drive the car to the asessors garage where they can inspect it
in the meantime i have carried out my own checks and the car is perfectly safe to drive ,

This is not how we do it sir for your own safety we take the car away on a low loader and return it after repairs fully valeted and not costing you anything as it is being paid for by the other drivers insurance company so you have no need to do anything else.

me
And if its classed as beyond economic repair?

oh thats all right sir we dispose of it for you and send you the cheque!!

me
The cr is worth a minimum of £1500 to me so send the driver with a cheque and you can then drive it away,

Oh no sir the claims asessor/valuer decides on the amount to be paid,

me
As i was not in anyway shape or form to blame for this accident and have been highly inconvenienced
by it i am fully entitled to have my car returned to its former condition paid for by the other drivers insurance is this right?

I am not sure sir can i get back to you?

Me
certainly but you better tell your driver to turn around before he gets to far!!
look forward to hearig from you good bye

ten mins later phone goes again
hello sir what time would you like to bring the car around so we can have a look at it?

me
see you sat morning

so thats the score so far, no way are they going
to have my car except to fit a new rear bumper!!!

Just keep in mind with all conversations with them that their insured has admitted liability and they cannot apply their rules to you as if you were their insured. They will give in at the end of the day, if my experience means anything. Do get your own independent assessment also!
My insurance company also offered to help with my negotiations if necessary, but I fought the battle to a successful conclusion myself.
You're in a very strong position in my humble opinion.
And have you seen the doctor yet?
