Things used to be so quiet
« on: 20 September 2009, 21:29:17 »

Hi All, I have an anoying noise through the interior and difficult to pinpoint, on smooth roads the car is silent but even the slightest rut in the road and there it is  :(.
It sounds almost like the bass coming from another car, a sort of booming sound in time with the bumps in the road.
Its driving me mad  :'(!! The rear shocks have been changed coz one was leaking and I thought that might be the end of it but they didn't make any difference . The exhaust is good and lifting my foot off the throttle doesn't help either.
Glad of any ideas you have

Sounds like there is somthing lose in the dash, the screws some time come loose and if u had probs with shoc's it wll make stuff loose, if it a rumberling it might be a tyre, I would check the tyres first might be to low 28-30psi front, it make that sound on mine if not check tyers for a longtime. :y

Thanks for your input  :y I run the tyres at 31 psi all round and they are in good condition all Falken ZE912 225/55/16V. I had them checked and re balanced a couple of weeks ago so i don't suspect them, also the wheel bearings and the suspension was said to be in good order, but the noise persists. I have emptied the boot and adjusted the door and boot lid locks I even found that if I tapped the rear bumper the wheel arch cover rattled so this was sorted and guess what ? the "B" noise is still there.
If someone was sitting in the back and stamping thier feet it would be very much the same sound.
Oh and I didn't have the wife in the boot (had her on the back seat once  8-)) lol
