Hi Steve, If you could update your Profile mate that would help, because if there is someone local to you they maybe able to help you.
As for your car, do you have an EML (engine management light) on at all? When you turn it over does it attempt to fire? has it been breaking down for a while or just started to do it? any history before the problem may help :y

Ok Steve let me get this right...

You can turn your car over until the battery goes flat, then it will fire up, then run on idle?

Does it not try to fire in all this time?
When it does start if you rev it does it cut out?

Anything else that could help? :y

yes thats exactly right. dosent even try to fire until its flat and then will happily tick over all day. when i rev it dosent cut out it moves about 100 rpm. engine sounds good when idleing, was starting before and after the alarm buisness although alarm  still goes off if i plug it back in (but still wont start) :(

someone suggested crank sensor but cant understand why it would start when battery goes flat, thought it just wouldnt start at all.

If the sensor is getting false revolutions of the crank (or intermittent / unreliable) it might just start when it gets a reading.

Do the pedal test to get the fault codes
