..... assuming the fuse is why the above test didn't work in the first place - where is it and what am I looking for when I've put it back in and the above test still soesn't work - pump or shocks ?  :-X

Cheers
Ian.

as Andy says, fuse 27.

Usual reason to pull the fuse is another shock type fitted, other than self levelling. Therefor no need for the self level pump to run.

Or if there is a problem with the system and it runs continuously due to a leak or whatever....

Have a look at the rear shock body between wheel arch and wheel. If you can see the air pipe connector clip on the shock it has self leveling shocks fitted, which would imply a problem if self levelling is not working.

Thanks Chrisgixer, Andy,
Just checked and fuse 27 is in tact and not blown, it definitely has the self levelling shocks - there is a pipe connection clearly visible on each side. So is it likely to be the pump - should I be able to hear it running. Is it easy enough to see or get at ? Doesn't explain why the 12v socket in the rear isn't working though ??
Based on split half troubleshooting - we have the fuse, we have the shocks - pump next ?

Definitely 27 - matches the illustration on the cover and in the handbook - I treble checked it as I was expecting it to be missing or blown. According to the handbook Fuse 15 is also Level Control - but everything else that's fitted it refers to is working fine..
There are a few gaps - I'll check tomorrow which ones they are.

Thanks
Ian.

The self leveling shockers were missing from mine when I bought mine. Whoever had removed them had left the fuse in place but unplugged the compressor  :-?  :-?  :-?

Thanks Andy - can I ask where the compressor is located - can you get to it/see it fairly easily - should you be able to hear it ?
Checked the fuse panel again - the only ones missing seem to make sense compared to the spec of the car (coolant heater has me puzzled though - what is that when it's fitted ?). I'm also still puzzled why the rear power socket isn't working as the fuse is OK.
Just in case it is me being stupid - is the expectation when you remove the sensor link on the rear suspension arm and move the actuator up towards it's end stop - the car will pump itself up within a few seconds - I assume I don't have to hang around for 5 minutes...

Cheers

The compressor is under the front bumper, driver's side & is only easy to see get at if you've driven the car up a pair of ramps.  ;)
Coolant heater? I can only assume it's something like a Kenloe heater that will preheat the coolant in very cold climates .... Sweden Norway etc
I can't say about the rear ciggy socket, I think facelift must be different from earlier prefacelift cars (like mine) cos mine is powered up as the front one with the ignition. If your fuse is OK have you a problem elsewherein the loom to the rear ciggy lighter.
I've never played wit the level switches, but I would expect the compressor to run quite soon after moving the level switch. I can hear my compressor will kick in after a minute or so of starting the car.

Have you put a new fuse in or checked your old one with a multi-meter? I've recently had a problem with a circuit in my caravan, I was convinced the fuse was OK (same blade type) - it looked it OK but the circuit was dead. I eventually tested the fuse ...... and it was duff!  :-?

the pump can be heard in the back ground of the pedal trick video under "paperclip test" in maintenance section, if that helps i.d. it.

Maybe swap the fuse with a known good one of the same colour.
