bet the answer wont be, out on a boat in freezing fog where viz was about 3ft on the way to assist police with a knife weilding maniac that was threatening to jump off a bridge.
evening goes like this, arange to meet up with a lady friend of mine, drive to the pub as my partner is at her m8's house and needs picking up. get to pub at about 2234 find my friend, sit down, have a quick chat 2239 pager goes off, up i get and off i go(not even had a drink of coke yet) drive to boathouse and get gear on, fog is pretty intense already. get boat in the water and get initial report of the job details from the coastguard, launch on service, enter the harbour, wallop we were hit by a huge bank of fog, visability was down to about 2 meters, aparently there are 2 tugs moving about the harbour, not a chance of us seing them. cary on up the river and arive on scene about 45 mins later. to be told that the guy had been detained you can return to station,
he didnt even give us the pleasure of jumping in.
on teh way back fog is even worse in places, so much so that if sitting at the stern of the boat we can see the fog riding over the bow. it was propper foggy, this is the worst i have ever been out in, and was it not for the gps chart plotter we have onboard i think we may have hit something.
so next time your out having your drinkies spare a thought for us and have a couple of extra's

off to bed now that i can feel my legs and fingers.
regards
nathan
*edit* fog viz should have been 2 meters not 20.
