Don't discount a knackered ancillary too. Does it do it with aux. belt removed?

Is the starter motor (and all other ancillaries) mounted securely and not working loose?

getting back to the "exam question" - you also have to drop the front crossmember.

not actually all that difficult a job.

I'm going to wait and see, if they need changing I am not sure what to do, as I go off on holiday before too long.

I am going to just see what happens I might need a JV6 or DLK as I don't have long until I disappear, and I have to get the caravan sorted first.

It does sound really worrying though - I will record it tomorrow and upload.

Aux belt off engine needs to be hot and it is difficult to get the belt off with plenum on.

Aircon pump would not be too bad.

At traffic lights it did it up to about 2000 rpm when engine noise meant I couldn't hear it.

Under load, no noise, road noise covers it as well.

It first happened after trying to work out why the 0305 was happening, I drove at 6500rpm in first for about 20 seconds with little load, would that have caused any issues?

I got TheBoy's aux belt off and back on again with plenum and multirams in place. :y

It must be worth a try just to eliminate the ancillaries, surely?

No problem with it being hot. You only have to run it for 30 seconds and not under load. It'd almost cool by convection.

I recently managed to remove mine with everything in place. But had to admit defeat putting the new one on, I ended up with a cat's cradle of fan belt, & took the bag pipes off before I blew a gasket.  ;D

Admittedly it's easier if you're putting the same one back on.  ;D

we mean the same thing. The frame underneath that the engine mounts and the wishbones bolt to. The thing the Yanks call the K-member.
